Mother Accused After Toddler Falls From Third-Floor Balcony in Beersheba
A 30-year-old woman from Beersheba faces charges after her toddler daughter fell from a third-floor balcony and suffered serious injuries. According to the indictment, the mother locked her two daughters in their room without supervision and neglected their safety. During renovations, the mother and her partner cut parts of the balcony railing to fit drywall panels, leaving a large gap.
Earlier this month, while the mother was in her room, the two girls opened the sliding door and went onto the balcony. The younger daughter, about two and a half years old, fell through the gap and was seriously hurt. The older sister carried her injured sibling back inside and only then did the mother learn of the fall. The toddler was hospitalized for 12 days with fractures to her hip and pelvis, liver injury, and pneumothorax.
The indictment also states the mother routinely locked the girls in their room overnight, ignoring their prolonged knocking. Additionally, the older daughter reportedly attacked the younger one around 20 times without intervention from the mother. The case highlights allegations of child abuse and neglect in the household.
