Elisaf Peretz Sets Clear Red Lines for Future Government Participation
In response to comments by his party colleague Hili Tropper about joining a Netanyahu government, educator and social activist Elisaf Peretz issued a detailed clarification on his party's conditions for participating in any future coalition. Peretz firmly rejected the idea of supporting a narrow right-wing government led by Netanyahu with ultra-Orthodox parties, stating, "We will not give Netanyahu 61 seats for a narrow government with the ultra-Orthodox parties because it would be the same government as now. We have achieved nothing!"
Instead, Peretz expressed preference for a broad Zionist coalition including figures like Gadi Eizenkot, Naftali Bennett, Avigdor Lieberman, and the Likud party, saying, "If a broad Zionist government is formed with Eizenkot, Bennett, Lieberman, and Likud, we will clearly be part of it." He emphasized that this stance is not a personal boycott or rejection of an entire electorate, clarifying, "We are not boycotting. It is clear that Likud voters are Zionist. But the party has chosen to promote non-Zionist laws, and that is unacceptable."
Peretz concluded by outlining fundamental principles that must be met for coalition agreements: working only with Zionist parties that advance genuine military conscription legislation, establish a state commission of inquiry, limit political tenure, end societal division and incitement, and promote national healing.
