Aviaad Daraf Releases New Song Highlighting Son's Rare Genetic Battle
Israeli musician Aviaad Daraf has released a new song titled "Spread Your Wings," co-written with his son Chesed David Daraf, which reveals their family's personal struggle with a rare genetic disorder. The song centers on Aviaad's 15-and-a-half-year-old son, Tov-Roi, who suffers from Morquio syndrome, a rare condition affecting bone development and growth.
The track features Rabbi Shlomo Yehuda Baari, known as "Haynuka," who also contributes a spoken segment and musical accompaniment. Over the years, a close personal relationship has developed between Rabbi Baari and the Daraf family, leading to his involvement in the song.
Aviaad shared that the family's ongoing challenges inspired the song, emphasizing the lesson he learned from Tov-Roi: choosing to see the good in life despite difficulties. He said, "Being joyful is a conscious choice about how to view life, no matter the obstacles." The song and its accompanying video were born from this journey of love and resilience, aiming to inspire others to choose light in tough times.
In recent years, Aviaad has focused on religious and faith-based music, blending pop and reggae styles with personal and family themes. His previous works include "You Have a King Father," "Thank You Mom," and "Good Morning." Alongside his wife, he also performs a show titled "Seeing Good, Living Faith," which combines music with their family's story and ongoing challenges.
