Four-Year-Old Improves After West Bank Stabbing; Seven-Year-Old Dies in Hospital
A stabbing incident in Beit Shemesh left two children injured, with one child succumbing to his wounds. The attack occurred in the afternoon when a 25-year-old man, reportedly mentally unstable, entered a home and stabbed two boys aged four and seven and a half. The younger child was critically wounded with a penetrating neck injury but showed improvement and is now in moderate condition after surgery at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. The older boy arrived at the hospital without vital signs and, despite prolonged resuscitation efforts, was declared dead in the trauma unit.
Magen David Adom paramedic Yosef Chaim Bernfeld described the scene as shocking, noting the seven-year-old was unconscious and pulseless upon arrival. Police arrested the suspect and are investigating the circumstances, including whether a family dispute triggered the attack. Professor Saar Hashavia, head of the pediatric emergency department and deputy hospital director, confirmed the severity of the incident and the outcomes for both children.
