Likud MK Tali Gottlieb Declares Ambition to Become Israel's Justice Minister
Likud Member of Knesset Tali Gottlieb publicly clarified her political ambitions during a radio interview on Monday, explicitly stating her intention to become Israel's next Justice Minister. Speaking with Avi Ratzon on Galei Yisrael, Gottlieb emphasized that while she does not control her political fate or appointments, she is openly declaring her goal to lead the Justice Ministry. She criticized the Supreme Court's past claims that voters did not truly desire certain political outcomes and framed her announcement as a strategic move to gain broad public legitimacy ahead of future challenges with the judiciary.
Gottlieb called on her supporters to trust her in this pursuit, saying, "I expect the voters' trust so the Supreme Court can never say I did not campaign on this." She concluded by affirming her confidence that thousands will back her despite internal and external opposition, stating, "This is what the public wants."
Her declaration comes amid internal Likud primaries, where she is projected to rank in the lower top twenty on the party list. However, party leadership fears her rise could cost Likud two to three seats in the general elections. The day before, Gottlieb sharply denied reports by journalist Yinon Magal about emergency discussions in Prime Minister Netanyahu's office concerning her potential move to the Otzma Yehudit party, affirming that no such talks are taking place.
This public assertion of her Justice Minister ambitions highlights ongoing political maneuvering within Likud and the broader contest over Israel's judicial future.
