South Shilo Bloc Transforms Security Landscape with Jewish Control and New Settlements

The southern settlements of the Shilo Bloc in the Benjamin region have undergone a significant security transformation over the past two and a half years. Previously, residents faced daily threats from nearby Arab villages, with hostile presence in open areas limiting movement and expansion. A planned Arab city project near the bloc, involving hundreds of millions of shekels, also threatened Jewish settlement continuity.

This situation changed due to a unique and strategic cooperation primarily between the settlements of Amichai and Adi Ad, which led to full Jewish control of the area. Hostile elements were pushed back into their villages, and the Arab city plan was abandoned. The area now sees thriving Jewish presence, including new settlement points, shepherds tending flocks, and hundreds of hikers and families safely enjoying the trails and springs.

Nahum Schwartz, the regional security coordinator, described the shift as a 180-degree turnaround, emphasizing that the community has moved from a defensive posture to one of initiative and control. However, he highlighted ongoing operational challenges, including the need for improved infrastructure such as new security roads and all-terrain vehicles to maintain rapid response capabilities across the expanded area.

Schwartz called on the Israeli public to support a fundraising campaign aimed at financing these critical security upgrades, as no government budget is currently allocated for them. He stressed that completing this security revolution will ensure lasting safety for southern Shilo for generations to come.
