Channel 14 Host Arel Segal Admits Mistake in Misidentifying Former Military Prosecutor

Arel Segal, a presenter on Channel 14, addressed a recent embarrassing incident on Radio 103fm involving a Channel 14 investigator who mistakenly approached a woman on the street, believing her to be a former military prosecutor (Petty Officer). Segal acknowledged the seriousness of falsely accusing someone of being the former military prosecutor and emphasized the greater severity of falsely accusing IDF soldiers. He admitted, "We made a mistake, we messed up, and we must take responsibility."

Following the incident, Channel 14 issued a clarification stating that the woman filmed was walking behind the building where Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi resides and was accompanied by a man resembling her husband. The woman closely resembled Tomer-Yerushalmi and responded to the name Yifat without denying any connection to the questions about the case involving Tomer-Yerushalmi. Despite this, due to arising doubts, the report was removed from all platforms, and a re-investigation will be conducted.

The controversy also sparked a response from the daughter of the former military prosecutor, who addressed the surrounding uproar. This incident highlights the sensitivity and responsibility required when reporting on military and legal figures in Israel.
