Cybersecurity Firm Pantera Cuts 60 More Jobs Amid AI Shift
Pantera, a cybersecurity company, announced a second round of layoffs involving approximately 60 employees, adding to the 40 layoffs made in April. Together, these cuts represent about 20% of its 470 employees. Around 30 of the recently laid-off workers are based in Israel, joining 20 Israeli employees dismissed in the previous round. The layoffs affect all departments, including R&D teams, while the company continues to hire AI-experienced professionals.
In March 2025, Pantera raised $60 million in a Series D funding round, bringing its total capital raised to about $250 million. The company also surpassed $100 million in annual revenue and completed two strategic acquisitions: DevOcean and EVA Information Security. Pantera recently opened new offices in Colorado and Madrid, in addition to locations in the UAE, Singapore, Germany, Denver, and Boston.
The layoffs stem from a shift in company priorities due to market changes. Over the past year, Pantera has focused on launching and developing AI-based cybersecurity verification solutions. It recently enhanced its platform with AI capabilities to simulate human attackers in web application testing and expanded ransomware resilience testing. Last week, Pantera announced a technological integration and partnership with cybersecurity giant Recorded Future.
The company stated it is adapting to rapid market changes driven by the dramatic growth of AI capabilities and adoption. Pantera is transforming its platform to be AI-native to provide customers with AI-tailored solutions and embed AI across all workflows. To meet these goals and maintain agility, Pantera regrettably must part ways with valued employees who contributed significantly to the company.
