Israeli creative-tech company Artlist is laying off 200 employees, about 40% of its 500-person workforce, in a strategic reorganization aimed at making the company “AI-native.” Most of the cuts will be in Israel, where Artlist operates from Tel Aviv and Kibbutz Afikim.
The company confirmed the reports to mako and said the move is intended to align Artlist with “the new technological era” and create a flatter, faster, more autonomous structure. It said the restructuring is being carried out from a position of “economic resilience and continued growth.” Employees whose roles are under review have been called to hearings as part of the process.
Artlist said it recently surpassed $300 million in annual recurring revenue, or ARR, and has grown 50% year over year. The company also said it will provide broad support and favorable terms to affected workers and thanked them for their contribution to its success.
Founded in 2016 by co-CEOs Ira Belsky and Itzik Elbaz, together with musicians Eyal Raz and Assaf Ayalon, Artlist says it now has more than 50 million customers. In late May, it announced its first feature film, the horror title Terrarium, to be produced using a hybrid model that combines traditional filming with AI tools, alongside producer Steven Schneider. The company also noted that it created a Super Bowl ad using its AI tools in five days, and that a Christmas AI video it released in December cost just $3,000.
