Israeli Casting Director Amira Buzaglo Loses 51 Kilos After Bariatric Surgery
Amira Buzaglo, a prominent Israeli casting director and media personality, has lost 51 kilograms following a gastric sleeve surgery she underwent after years of unsuccessful dieting. Despite her firm decision, Buzaglo postponed the surgery multiple times over a year due to fear and significant life events, including the death of her mother and geopolitical tensions involving Iran. She credits her astrologer, Hani Shweimer, for helping her choose the spiritually significant surgery date of October 13, 2024, coinciding with the release of remaining hostages in captivity.
Buzaglo shared that her weight gain was influenced by hormonal treatments and multiple pregnancies, which made her uncomfortable in her own body. She described how chronic foot pain, which lasted two years, disappeared after she lost weight, highlighting the physical burden she carried. Previously confident in her appearance and even modeling plus-size lingerie, she decided to change after realizing her body had transformed.
She emphasized that her relationship with food has improved dramatically post-surgery, as she now eats smaller portions and feels liberated from emotional eating. Buzaglo also adopted a healthier lifestyle, including regular walks and strength training with a personal coach. She has already donated numerous designer clothes and is adjusting to her new physique.
Buzaglo, 45, is well-known in the Israeli entertainment industry, having cast dozens of TV shows, films, and series over two decades. She recently lost her mother, Dina Buzaglo, who passed away unexpectedly last year. Amira spoke candidly about her upbringing in a working-class neighborhood in Tel Aviv, raised by a single mother, and her lack of contact with her father. She also discussed her personal journey toward self-acceptance and confidence, attributing much of it to her mother’s support.
Currently, Buzaglo is involved in casting several high-profile projects, including the international series "The Therapist" and the Israeli series "Koch Alion" and "El Sofa." She plans to reveal more about her weight loss journey publicly soon, responding to the many inquiries she receives on social media.
