Reports: Tehran May Temporarily Hold Fire on Israel as Ceasefire Talks Continue
Sources familiar with the negotiations said that, against the backdrop of the IDF strike in the Dahieh district and Iranian threats to launch missiles at Israel in response, Tehran is considering pausing the launches for an unspecified period. The pause could last indefinitely or expire within hours, depending on whether the decision is ultimately approved.
According to those sources, such a move would be intended to give President Donald Trump’s efforts to calm the situation a chance to work, with the goal of reaching a framework agreement as early as tonight. Qataris have been leading the mediation effort today and over the past several hours.
The same sources said Trump is seriously considering offering Iran significant rewards in the sequence of steps under the deal’s implementation. One possibility being discussed is the immediate lifting of the naval blockade over Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, rather than a gradual removal by both sides.
