Former Likud Minister Ayoub Kara Returns to Politics at Netanyahu's Request

Ayoub Kara, former Israeli Communications Minister and Likud member, announced his decision to run in the upcoming Likud primaries during an interview on Radio North 104.5 FM with Gadi Ness. Kara explained that his return to politics was prompted by a direct request from the Likud leadership and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who valued his expertise in regional security and diplomacy. Kara had previously resigned from the government but remained active in Middle Eastern affairs and defense coordination.

Kara emphasized that despite enjoying the freedom to operate independently in Lebanon, Libya, and Iraq after leaving politics, he felt compelled to return due to the significant challenges Israel faces, especially following the events of October 7. He expressed strong support from party members and noted that the atmosphere in the Likud today is more welcoming than during his previous tenure as minister.

Highlighting his unique contribution, Kara stated that Netanyahu often consulted him on critical regional decisions, sometimes sending him to distant locations to assess the viability of strategic moves. Kara believes his experience and connections provide an essential perspective that is currently missing in the government regarding Israel's surrounding environment.

In addition to his political career, Kara is an international lawyer and has been involved in various business activities. His return to the Likud list is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the party's regional and security expertise ahead of upcoming elections.
