Israeli Restaurateur David Tour Nears Major Pizza Chain Deal Valued at 120 Million Shekels
David Tour, a prominent figure in Israel's restaurant industry, is reportedly close to finalizing a deal to sell 50% of his pizza chain, Pizza Har Sinai, for approximately 60 million shekels, valuing the chain at around 120 million shekels. The chain currently operates three branches in Tel Aviv neighborhoods including Nachalat Binyamin, Glilot, and Sarona Market, with a fourth branch under construction in Kiryat Ono. Tour emphasized that the deal's high valuation reflects the chain's future growth potential, with plans to open a new branch annually.
Tour, 51, originally from Sukhumi in Abkhazia, immigrated to Israel as an infant and has built a vast restaurant portfolio including AKA, Queens ice cream shop, Cafe Europa, Fifty and One Italian restaurant, Local burger joints, and Trattoria Una in Ramat Aviv. He also owns several properties in Nachalat Binyamin, which he rents to other restaurateurs. Despite his extensive involvement in about 50 businesses, Tour maintains a low public profile, avoiding media and television appearances.
Known for his hands-on approach, Tour works from a modest office and prefers to stay close to his restaurants, which are mostly located near his home on Rothschild Boulevard. He recently expanded beyond central Tel Aviv to neighborhoods like Ramat Aviv and Kiryat Ono, aiming to serve local communities that prefer dining options close to home.
Before his restaurant career, Tour was a nightlife pioneer in Tel Aviv, opening clubs and bars such as the legendary Breakfast Club. Although he stepped away from the club scene a decade ago, he is considering a comeback to revitalize nightlife in the city. Trained as an architect in England, Tour applies his design skills to his restaurant concepts, structuring them as independent entities under his management.
Regarding the Pizza Har Sinai deal, Tour clarified that most proceeds will be reinvested in expanding the chain. He also developed a WhatsApp-based delivery system to simplify ordering and reduce reliance on third-party platforms. Pizza Har Sinai is known for its classic neighborhood-style pizza made with high-quality ingredients, including a 30-year-old sourdough starter and San Marzano tomatoes. Similar large-scale deals have recently occurred in Israel’s food sector, reflecting growing investor interest in restaurant chains.
