Nahal Recon Unit Soldiers Recall Deadly Clash with Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon

In March, the Nahal Reconnaissance Battalion suffered heavy losses during a close-quarters battle against Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon. The confrontation resulted in the deaths of Captain Noam Madmoni and sergeants Ben Cohen, Maxim Antis, and Gilad Harel. Six additional soldiers were wounded, including a severely injured fighter from the elite Oketz unit.

Now, the surviving Nahal Recon soldiers are revisiting the harrowing moments of the battle that profoundly impacted their lives. During this reflection, they met for the first time with the Oketz unit soldier who fought alongside them under fire. The Oketz fighter expressed deep gratitude, stating, "They immediately jumped in to help; I owe them my life."

This encounter highlights the camaraderie and bravery displayed during the intense engagement, which remains a defining event for those involved. The soldiers' testimonies provide insight into the fierce combat conditions faced by Israeli forces in Lebanon and the heavy price paid in the fight against Hezbollah.
