Woman Caught Gluing Lock at Jerusalem Cafe Amid Haredi Protests Over Sabbath Operation

Security footage captured a woman applying glue to the lock of 'Cafe Basemta' in Jerusalem on Saturday morning. The cafe has recently become a focal point of Haredi protests due to its owner, Yoel Ben David, choosing to operate it on the Sabbath. Last Saturday marked the fifth consecutive week of demonstrations, where dozens of Haredim protested outside the cafe. These protests included clashes with police as demonstrators attempted to breach police barriers.

Last week, social activists and politicians also visited the site, including Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Adir Schwartz and Israel Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman. Lieberman commented on the situation, stating, "Drinking coffee on a Saturday morning should not become an act of civil bravery. When we come to power, they (the Haredim) won't have time to protest. Everyone will be drafted into the military!" The ongoing tensions highlight the cultural and political conflicts surrounding Sabbath observance in Jerusalem.
