Maccabi Tel Aviv Explores Signing Serbian Defender Nikola Maraš on Free Transfer
Maccabi Tel Aviv confirmed on Saturday during a press conference that they are actively pursuing new signings, with Serbian center-back Nikola Maraš among the candidates. Maraš, 30, was recently released by Spanish club Alavés despite having a contract until 2027. Alavés explained the release was based on an internal report evaluating the defender's performance throughout his tenure. Standing 1.89 meters tall, Maraš has an extensive career in Spain since the 2019/20 season, having played for Almería, Rayo Vallecano, Alavés, Levante, Sporting Gijón, and Mirandés, where he was on loan last season. He also has two caps for the Serbian senior national team. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is approximately 600,000 euros. If signed by Maccabi Tel Aviv, Maraš would join on a free transfer.
