Defense Reveals Agam Sarfi’s Version in Benyahu Raz Murder Case: ‘It Was Just a Smile’
Following the nationwide shock over a photo related to the murder of Benyahu Raz, new details have emerged regarding Agam Sarfi’s role during the fatal incident. Sarfi’s defense attorney, Omri Stern, presented her version of events to counter the prosecution’s claims that she was involved in orchestrating the attack that led to Raz’s death. Stern described Sarfi as a normal young woman from a typical family, serving in the IDF, with no ties to criminal activity. He acknowledged a turbulent three-year relationship between Sarfi and Raz, marked by disputes and violence primarily from Raz’s side, including previous complaints filed by Sarfi and possible restraining orders, though it is unclear if any were active on the day of the murder.
Stern denied that Sarfi recruited the minors who participated in the attack, stating they came voluntarily and had no romantic or prior connection to her. According to the defense, Sarfi returned to the apartment simply to retrieve personal belongings, such as clothes and perfume, fearing further damage to her property by Raz. She allegedly was unaware that the minors had armed themselves with knives or planned to assault Raz. During the attack, Sarfi reportedly did not witness the violence directly but heard screams and only later realized Raz had been stabbed.
A critical point raised by the defense concerns Sarfi’s failure to call emergency services after understanding someone was injured. Stern attributed this to her extreme stress and panic at the moment, noting she later contacted her sister. While Sarfi expresses sorrow over Raz’s death, her defense emphasizes she does not admit legal responsibility or intent to cause harm. Stern highlighted that Sarfi is struggling with the situation but firmly believes in her innocence regarding the charges.
