MK Saada Says Amnon Abramovich May Soon Face Criminal Probe
Likud MK Moshe Saada delivered an escalating attack on Israel's legal establishment and media in a Sunday interview on Galey Israel with Doron Cohen and Dr. Yaakov Ben-Shemesh. Saada, a former deputy head of the Police Internal Investigations Department, said the bill he is promoting to separate that unit from the State Attorney's Office has caused panic inside the system.
He claimed the legal system used every tool available to stop the legislation. According to Saada, prosecutors never believed the bill would advance, were unprepared, and tried to derail it through a prosecutors' strike, a personal complaint against him, and media threats. He said, "They did everything to thwart the law."
Saada then singled out senior Channel 12 commentator Amnon Abramovich, accusing him of running a coordinated media campaign against him and against the Police Internal Investigations reform. He complained that Abramovich went on air on the eve of the war, when Saada was with his family, to say he was carrying out an "Iranization" of Israel because of the bill.
At the end of the interview, Saada made the unexpected claim that the media attacks would lead to legal action. "And I am telling you, Amnon Abramovich is expected to be investigated soon. A criminal investigation," he said.
