Matti Caspi's Unpublished Stories to Debut as Children's Books Illustrated by His Daughter

A decade-old secret is finally revealed as previously unpublished stories written by renowned Israeli musician Matti Caspi are set to be published as a children's book series. The project is a collaboration between publisher Hanoch Saar of "Saar" publishing house and Raquel Caspi, Matti Caspi's widow, who manages the "Matti Caspi Heritage" initiative. The first volume will feature three of Caspi's stories, illustrated by his daughter Soyan Caspi, adding a personal family dimension to the literary work.

The idea originated about ten years ago when Caspi and Saar initially agreed to publish a book, and Caspi even presented one story at a festival held by the publisher at the Beit Zioni America in Tel Aviv. However, the project was shelved at the time. Recently, the collaboration between Saar and the Caspi family was renewed, expanding the scope to a full series aimed at introducing Caspi's lesser-known literary work to a younger generation unfamiliar with his music.

Matti Caspi, a central figure in Israeli music since the 1970s, was known not only for his songs, melodies, and arrangements that became local classics but also for his artistic curiosity and versatility across styles and media. These stories, which had been kept unpublished for years, will now reach new audiences through books, offering a fresh perspective on Caspi beyond his musical legacy. For children, this will be their first encounter with Caspi's creativity through storytelling and illustrations.
