Maccabi Netanya Secures Young Talent Yarin Abuhatzeira With Lucrative Contract Extension

Yarin Abuhatzeira, a 16-year-old football prodigy at Maccabi Netanya, has recently signed a significant contract extension securing his future with the club. Despite his young age, Abuhatzeira has already been integrated into the senior team and is viewed as a potential star in Israeli football. His journey began in the youth ranks of Netanya, where he quickly outpaced his peers, leading to early promotions through the club's youth system.

Initially, Abuhatzeira faced challenges, including limited playing time at the youth level due to his age and competition, which caused tension between his family and the club. His father, Shimon Abuhatzeira, a former player and agent, had included clauses in Yarin's contract allowing for release if he did not play at least 70% of youth matches, and a buyout option of 400,000 shekels. This situation nearly led to a transfer to Maccabi Petah Tikva.

The turning point came when club director Gil Lev intervened, facilitating a reconciliation meeting with the youth coach Sasha Feldman and arranging for Yarin to join the senior team's training camp. Senior team coach Roni Levy praised Yarin as a "football monster" and a flagship project for the club, committing to developing him into a top-level player. Owner Ross Kastin approved the plan, emphasizing the club's intention to nurture Yarin and eventually sell him to a European club once he turns 18.

The new contract, worth over $150,000 per season for three years with an option for a fourth, reflects the club's confidence in Yarin's potential. His agent, Nir Amir, highlighted the unanimous effort by Netanya's management to retain the young talent amid interest from other major Israeli clubs. The agreement also stipulates that Yarin is considered a senior player and will receive significant playing time under Levy's guidance.
