Maccabi Netanya Advances Talks to Upgrade Contract of Rising Star Yarin Abuhatzira

Maccabi Netanya is currently holding a training camp in Brok, Poland, where they are preparing for the 2025/26 season. On Saturday, the team will play their third and final friendly match of the camp against newly promoted Polish top-league team Wieczysta Kraków. A standout player during the preseason is the young winger Yarin Abuhatzira, who joined the camp despite being under 16 years old. Abuhatzira has already scored three goals in friendly matches and has previously played for the club’s youth teams.

The Israeli Football Association granted a rare special permit allowing Abuhatzira to participate with the senior team in the Toto Cup opening match on July 25, two days before his 16th birthday. This exception was approved by the association’s Supreme Court because players under 16 are normally barred from senior team play. The decision cited Abuhatzira as one of Israeli football’s promising talents and noted his imminent birthday.

Maccabi Netanya has begun negotiations to extend and upgrade Abuhatzira’s contract. Currently signed for two more years, his contract includes a very low release clause of 100,000 euros, considered minimal given his potential future transfer value. The club and the player’s representatives, including his father and former striker Shimon Abuhatzira and agent Nir Amir, are discussing a long-term contract with a significantly higher release clause. The club does not rule out integrating Abuhatzira into the senior squad this season based on his strong preseason performances.
