Elche Faces Squad Shortages Ahead of La Liga Season Opener

Elche is preparing to start its La Liga season with an incomplete squad, just four days before the opening match against Deportivo La Coruna. The club acknowledges it still has several signings to complete, with pre-season training already underway. Martin Anselmi, the coach, allowed media access to training sessions, noting that players joined the pre-season preparations late.

Elche continues to search for a natural left-back, having denied rumors about Hector Fort from Barcelona returning on loan. Currently, the team lacks a natural left-back and may start the season using three central defenders against Deportivo La Coruna. The club has signed five players during the transfer window, including right-back Buba Sangare for 4.5 million euros.

Financially, Elche earned 25 million euros from the sale of Alvaro Rodriguez and spent 12 million euros on new players, but has not found a significant replacement for Rodriguez, who transferred to Bournemouth. Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv is set to face CSKA Sofia in the Conference League qualifiers, with Roy Revivo expected to start after missing the first leg. Negotiations continue regarding Revivo's potential move to Elche.
