Israeli Lawyer Arrested for Smuggling Drugs Hidden in Eyelash Remover Bottles
Israeli police uncovered a drug smuggling operation involving bottles disguised as eyelash remover products. The shipment, originating from England and routed through Turkey, was intercepted by customs drug investigators at Ben Gurion Airport who suspected the bottles contained GBL, a controlled substance. Instead of detaining the package at the airport, authorities tracked it to its final destination in central Israel.
Upon delivery in Tel Aviv, officers from the 747 unit arrested a lawyer suspected of involvement in the smuggling. A subsequent search of his home revealed additional drugs including ecstasy, heroin, and more GBL, along with other materials and foreign currency. All seized items were sent for forensic analysis by the Israeli police.
The lawyer was interrogated by the 747 unit and brought before a judge who extended his detention until August 16. Police continue to investigate the origin of the shipment, its contents, and the full extent of the suspect's involvement.
