Israeli Lawyer Arrested for Smuggling GBL Drug Hidden in Eyelash Remover Bottles
Customs drug investigators at Ben Gurion Airport and officers from Unit 747 arrested a lawyer from central Israel on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to import GBL, known as a "date rape" drug. The substance was concealed in bottles labeled as eyelash remover, shipped from the UK through Turkey to Israel. The suspect's detention was extended by five days.
Police stated that during targeted enforcement on shipments entering Israel, customs officers uncovered the package containing bottles suspected to hold GBL disguised as eyelash remover, addressed to a client in central Israel. Following the arrest in Tel Aviv upon delivery of the package, Unit 747 officers searched the suspect's home, seizing additional suspected drugs including ecstasy and heroin, along with other substances and foreign currency.
