Judge Mintz Criticizes Supreme Court President Amit Over Investigation Oversight Dispute

Conservative Judge David Mintz sharply criticized Supreme Court President Isaac Amit in his ruling on the controversial State Attorney investigation case. Amit had warned against politicizing the investigation, emphasizing the importance of preventing political interference in criminal probes. Mintz responded that while preventing politicization is crucial, it is equally important to ensure the investigation itself is conducted properly, independently, and reliably, without involvement from parties with potential conflicts of interest.

Mintz dissented in the ruling that rejected petitions related to the case, arguing that the petitions should have been partially accepted. He called for the appointment of an external, neutral overseer to supervise the investigation, given the exceptional circumstances. According to Mintz, such oversight would guarantee that necessary investigative actions are properly carried out.

In his critique of Amit, Mintz acknowledged the significance of avoiding political influence but stressed that this goal should not overshadow the need for trustworthy and impartial investigation management. He highlighted that the case's unique nature justifies transferring supervisory authority to an external entity outside the State Attorney's Office or the Attorney General's legal advisory system. Mintz concluded that appointing a neutral overseer aligns with prior decisions made in the case and is essential to maintaining the investigation's integrity.
