Israeli Official Says U.S. Was Briefed in Advance on Beirut Strike

Israel informed the United States ahead of the strike in Beirut's Dahieh district, according to an Israeli source cited by CNN. The source said the message was sent to U.S. Central Command, known as CENTCOM.

The official added that Israel understood the strike could trigger an Iranian response, including the firing of ballistic missiles at Israel. The report did not say whether Washington approved the operation or how the U.S. responded to the warning.

The disclosure comes as Israel remains alert to the possibility of direct retaliation from Iran following the attack.
