Tzipi Shavit Joins The Revivo Project for New Children’s Album Covering Hit Song 'Barbaba'
Tzipi Shavit, the iconic Israeli actress and children’s entertainer, has collaborated with The Revivo Project on a cover of their hit song "Barbaba," released as part of their new children’s album on Wednesday. The album, the eighth studio release by the group founded in 2012, features 11 songs including "The Soap Cried a Lot," "Hopa Hey," and "My Family," accompanied by AI-generated music videos. The Revivo Project consists of brothers Reviv Ben Menachem, Nir Ben Menachem, and Eliran Tzur.
Shavit described the recording session as filled with excitement and a "vibrating atmosphere" created by the three members of the group, whom she praised for their joyful and musical spirit. She expressed deep affection for the song "Barbaba," originally performed in 1978, highlighting its themes of acceptance and inclusion, as it tells the story of a different-looking child who finds love and happiness despite being laughed at.
Reflecting on her career, Shavit recalled her early days as a singer with the Southern Command entertainment troupe and her performances at the Children’s Song Festival, where she twice placed second. Despite not winning first place, she embraced the success of her songs and the joy they brought to audiences. She also addressed her recent health challenges following a complicated hip surgery but emphasized her ongoing vitality and commitment to performing, including her current play "Letting Go of Nechama" at the Haifa Theater.
Looking ahead to her 80th birthday next year, Shavit plans to reflect on her life and career in an interview, focusing on her passion and how she remains beloved by audiences. She expressed no fear of aging or death, sharing a humorous anecdote about what she would want said at her funeral. When asked about her biggest disappointment, she cited the unsuccessful surgery that prevented her from participating in "Dancing with the Stars," a goal she had eagerly anticipated.
