Waze Adds Live World Cup Alerts for Drivers

Waze has rolled out a new feature tied to World Cup 2026 that pushes live match alerts directly inside the navigation app. The update, introduced in recent days, notifies users about kickoff whistles, goals, and final scores while they are driving, so they can follow the tournament without taking their eyes off the road.

The alerts appear in real time on the navigation screen and are enabled by default for all users. Waze says the design is meant to give drivers key information at a glance and avoid the safety risk of searching for results manually outside the app. Users can turn the alerts off at any time through the settings menu.

Those who want more control can choose the path in the app’s settings, then under alerts and reports, and finally in the live games section. There, the option labeled “Alert while driving” can be switched on or off. Drivers using Android Auto or CarPlay must manage the setting from their phone, and the changes will also apply in the car interface after the phone is disconnected.

The move reflects Waze’s broader effort to become an interactive information service for drivers, including Israeli users, during major sports events.
