New on ynet: Download the World Cup schedule to your personal phone calendar
Tonight, the biggest World Cup in history kicks off in North America: no fewer than 104 matches over 39 days. Unlike previous World Cups, when there were a few fixed kick-off times that were easy to remember and plan your day around, this time the matches will be played at countless different and unusual hours, early evening, late evening, the small hours of the night, pre-dawn and even in the morning. In short, chaos.
To help you keep track and not miss any match that interests you, ynet is launching a schedule that can be downloaded to your personal calendar in Google Calendar or to the iPhone calendar. No need to search each time for when a match starts, no need to get confused by the times, and no need to discover too late that the game you wanted to watch is already in the second half. Everything in one place, organized, clear and accessible, including the broadcasting channels.
You can add the schedule in one of three ways. The first option, intended for serious World Cup obsessives, is of course to add the full match schedule, including even the most obscure games, anyone say Curaçao, Ecuador? If you only start getting interested after the group stage, no problem, you can add the knockout schedule, starting from the round of 32, yes, there is such a stage this time. There is also a third option, adding the matches of a specific national team to your calendar. Want to follow Lionel Messi in his last World Cup? No problem, download Argentina's match schedule to your calendar. If the world champions move on beyond the group stage, your schedule will update with them. You do not need to do anything. Of course, you can follow more than one team and download as many schedules as you want.
Each match in any of the schedules will appear in Google Calendar and in the iPhone calendar with the broadcasting channel. If there is a change in match time or the broadcasting channel, that is on us. We will update it, and you, as mentioned, do not need to do anything. Maybe just set an alarm for the middle of the night.
How do you download it? iPhone users: click the download button. The device will automatically identify that it is a calendar file, a short confirmation, press Find, and all the schedules you chose will sync directly to Apple's Calendar app. Android users: click the download button to save the file. Then open the Google Calendar app, or your preferred calendar app, go to settings and perform an Import of the file you downloaded. Desktop users: click the download button. Open your calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook or Calendar on Mac, and import the file through the settings menu so that the whole schedule appears on your big screen.
