Former Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen Reveals Extensive Israeli Reconnaissance of Iran’s Fordow Nuclear Site

Yossi Cohen, former head of Mossad, disclosed during the Galilee Conference on Tuesday that Israeli intelligence agents had visited Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility multiple times to study and understand its characteristics. Cohen expressed strong approval of the recent American strike on the Fordow site, describing it as the fulfillment of a long-held personal goal. He stated, "The bombing of the site by the Americans is the realization of all my dreams."

Cohen also addressed Iran’s uranium enrichment level, noting that although Iran has enriched uranium to 60 percent, this does not mean it possesses a nuclear bomb. He clarified, "60 percent enriched uranium is still far from a bomb."

The Galilee Conference, held under the theme "Restoring Security to the North," gathered decision-makers, local leaders, security officials, and opinion leaders to discuss regional resilience, employment, the future of settlements, and security challenges amid ongoing conflicts in northern Israel.

The Fordow enrichment site, located in a mountainous area, was targeted by the United States during Operation "With the Wolf." Following the strike, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization reported only limited damage to the site. Deputy head and spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi stated that significant equipment and materials had already been removed, minimizing the impact and preventing contamination. Kamalvandi also commented on damage at the Natanz enrichment facility, noting that most installations are underground, resulting in only minor leakage that did not spread beyond the site.
