Pazgaz Workers Expand Strike, Threaten Gas Supply Disruptions Ahead of Jewish Holidays

The labor dispute at Pazgaz is intensifying as workers plan to escalate their strike starting Wednesday. Employees will close branches to the public and halt collections from business clients. The workers' committee warns that if the company management does not respond, the strike could severely disrupt gas supply during the upcoming Jewish High Holidays (Tishrei).

The conflict began about six months ago over demands for better wages and working conditions. Despite attempts to bridge differences, negotiations collapsed roughly a month ago, and no dialogue has occurred since. Pazgaz workers claim the company profits millions but pays them low salaries, with many earning around 7,000 shekels monthly despite their dedication, including working under difficult conditions such as missile attacks.

Racheli Saadia-Gol, chair of the Pazgaz workers' committee, criticized the CEO for refusing to engage in meaningful talks and described the management's approach as "bulldozing." She emphasized the workers deserve fair pay and respect reflecting their commitment.

The strike escalation will begin with the closure of the Kiryat Gat branch, followed by branches in Ramla, Jerusalem, Dimona, and Tiberias next week, alongside a complete halt of business department collections. The workers warn that continued management inaction will lead to widespread service disruptions and significant gas shortages during the holidays.

Pazgaz responded by assuring the public that gas supply will continue uninterrupted throughout the holidays and expressed regret that the workers' committee is creating headlines based on unfounded claims instead of engaging in constructive dialogue.
