Israel Begins Extensive Mine Clearance for New Security Barrier Along Jordan Border

The Israeli Ministry of Defense has initiated large-scale mine clearance operations along the eastern border with Jordan to facilitate the construction of a new security barrier. The project involves clearing extensive minefields, unexploded ordnance, and other munitions across challenging terrain, including mountainous areas and riverbeds. Over 60 heavy machinery units and approximately 120 mine-clearing vehicles are operating in four sections along the planned barrier route.

These efforts are conducted under continuous coordination with security agencies and adapt to changing operational conditions. The clearance work is part of the Ministry of Defense's strategic plan to strengthen Israel's security and control in the eastern region. The initiative is led by the Border and Seam Administration, headed by Major General Eran Ophir, in cooperation with the Engineering and Construction Division and the IDF Central Command.

Defense Minister Israel Katz and Ministry Director General, retired Major General Amir Baram, oversee the project, which aims to expand the security infrastructure along the Jordanian border. The operation reflects Israel's ongoing commitment to securing its borders through advanced defensive measures.
