Arab Patient Shouts Abuse at Doctor in Assuta Clinic Over Treatment Delay

An incident occurred at the pain clinic of Assuta Ramat Hahayal hospital involving an Arab patient and his family who claimed that his mother was not receiving proper treatment due to their ethnicity. The patient loudly accused the attending doctor of discrimination, demanding treatment from an Arab physician and expressing anger that his mother was referred for further tests instead of immediate treatment. Video footage from the event captures the patient shouting, cursing, and even wishing cancer upon the doctor and staff.

A second doctor present at the clinic described the attending physician as experienced, professional, and dedicated, explaining that the referral for additional tests was medically justified given the complexity of the patient's condition. She stated the patient "simply did not get what he wanted" and became aggressive, refusing to leave the room when asked politely. The patient’s mother reportedly understood that the staff intended to help her, but the son believed they were biased against them because they are Arab.

The altercation escalated with the patient shouting threats and insults, including "May God give you cancer in the head," repeatedly in the clinic and hallway. The witnessing doctor expressed sympathy for her colleague, describing the situation as heartbreaking and unacceptable. The patient declared he would not return to the same doctor. The hospital has not issued a public statement regarding the incident.
