Yair Golan Admits Lying to Einav Tzangocker, Offers Campaign Role Instead

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party in Israel, acknowledged on Monday that he lied to Einav Tzangocker regarding a promised secured spot on the party's Knesset list. Tzangocker had claimed that Golan agreed with her in February to reserve a top position on the list, but Golan later retracted this commitment. He took full responsibility for the decision and explained that he chose to cancel all reserved spots out of respect for the 113,000 party members who voted and trust in the list they selected.

Golan emphasized that this decision applied to all candidates considered for reserved positions, stating, "I decided not to use my right to reserve spots, out of respect for the party members' decision and confidence in the excellent list they chose." Despite withdrawing the reserved spot, Golan expressed hope that Tzangocker would continue to be involved in the party's efforts. He offered her a "significant role in the campaign" and described her as an important partner in their ongoing struggle for the country's future.

He highlighted the party's goals, including establishing a state investigative committee, replacing the current government, and rebuilding Israel. Golan's offer to Tzangocker remains open, and he expressed optimism about working together after the elections. This development comes amid internal party dynamics as the Democrats prepare for upcoming elections and seek to solidify their candidate list and campaign strategy.
