Nationalist Violence Surges 63% Against Israeli Security Forces in West Bank in Early 2026

Security data released on Monday reveals a sharp 63% increase in nationalist violence in the West Bank during the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year. There were 660 incidents recorded in early 2026, up from 440 in the first half of 2025 and 405 in the latter half of 2025. Attacks specifically targeting Israeli security forces also rose significantly, with 45 incidents in early 2026 compared to 30 in the previous half-year, marking a 50% increase in violence against these forces.

The rise in violence is also reflected in the number of Palestinian casualties. In the first half of 2026, 140 Palestinians were injured and six were killed, compared to 82 injured and no fatalities in the preceding six months. These figures do not yet include data from July, which alone saw about 100 additional nationalist violence incidents, indicating the upward trend continued into the second half of the year.
