Machine Gun Kelly Injured After Failed Stage Dive During Tour Stop

Musician and rapper Machine Gun Kelly was injured this week in an unusual incident during his Lost Americana tour. The artist, whose real name is Colson Baker, had just performed in Connecticut and then went to a club in a nearby city, where he was DJing at an afterparty.

While his song “FIX UR FACE,” a collaboration with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, was playing, Baker got caught up in the energy of the night and decided to flip off the stage roof into the crowd below. The audience apparently was not prepared for the force of the jump, could not support his weight, and he crashed hard to the floor in a painful failed stage dive.

A few days later, Baker told his millions of Instagram followers about his condition and the fallout from the fall. “I messed up my back really, really badly,” he said, adding that it was hard “even to stand or pick things up off the floor.” He said he could not get up without using his hands and upper body to support his back.

Despite the injury, Baker tried to reassure fans who will attend his upcoming shows and warned them not to misread any limited movement on stage. “If I move in a weird or strange way at any of the upcoming shows, I don’t want you to think I’m not giving it my all,” he said. “I’m just really, really injured. Like, it hurts me even to breathe.” He stressed that canceling concerts is not an option and said, “The show must go on. I’m not canceling anything ever.”
