Dana Ron Criticizes Rani Rahav Over Support for Ra'am Party in Israeli Government

Dana Ron, a morning news anchor, sharply criticized media personality Rani Rahav following his comments on Channel 13 where he expressed preference for including the Ra'am party in the Israeli government over ultra-Orthodox parties. Rahav had defended the Arab public and criticized the ultra-Orthodox community, stating that some ultra-Orthodox Knesset members do not believe in Zionism or the State of Israel and do not serve in the military or national service. He also called for an end to what he described as widespread racism in Israel.

In response, Ron rejected Rahav's accusations of racism and emphasized her stance that Jews should be the ones managing the country. She challenged Rahav's identification with Judaism and the Jewish people, asserting that non-Jews are less concerned with Jewish lives and insisting, "We want Jews to run the country."

This exchange occurred amid the release of a documentary by Channel 14 reporter Omri Haim titled "Mansour Abbas, The Polite Jihad," which explores the background and views of Mansour Abbas, leader of the Ra'am party. The documentary includes footage where Abbas refers to Israel as an enemy and denies Jewish rights to Jerusalem, the Western Wall, and the Land of Israel.

Ron also suggested Rahav should "go back and examine his own Jewish identity," highlighting the deep divisions and tensions surrounding the role of Arab and ultra-Orthodox parties in Israeli politics.
