Clashes in Hebron Area Leave Several Palestinians Injured Amid IDF Investigation

On Saturday, violent clashes erupted near the town of Idna in the Hebron area, involving Palestinians, Israeli settlers, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Palestinians accused settlers of attacking young people, smashing a car window, and surrounding worshippers at a mosque east of Idna while IDF forces were present. The IDF reported that troops were dispatched to the outskirts of Idna following reports of friction between Israeli civilians and Palestinians.

Video footage showed Israelis assaulting a Palestinian and an IDF soldier kneeling on the Palestinian's stomach while he was on the ground. The IDF confirmed that both the incident and the conduct of the troops are under investigation. In a separate confrontation near the settlement of Susya in Wadi Raham, four Palestinians were injured, one by gunfire and three by physical blows.

Settlers claimed that prior to the clashes, stones were thrown at a shepherd tending his flock near one of the farms in the area. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, settlers assaulted residents and fired shots into the air. Palestinians also reported that seven individuals were detained by IDF soldiers during the confrontations. They alleged that these detainees were removed from the mosque amid live fire, stun grenades, and tear gas use by the military.
