Oscar Gloukh Emerges as Key Player for Ajax in 2026/27 Season

Oscar Gloukh has become a standout player for Ajax following his impressive performances in the Conference League qualifiers, where he scored four goals, including a hat-trick in the home leg against Vojvodina. Ajax, a prestigious Amsterdam club, will begin their new Eredivisie season with an away match against Zwolle, a venue where they have not lost since 1988. However, their last visit ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw, reflecting a disappointing previous season.

With new coach Mitchell and sporting director Jordi Cruyff's recent signings, Ajax aims to compete for the league title and restore their success after five years. ESPN Netherlands highlighted Gloukh as the "main beneficiary" of the Spanish coach's playing style, noting that the Israeli midfielder feels at home playing as a left-sided number 10, a role similar to his position at Red Bull Salzburg.

Despite starting the season as a regular, Ajax is still seeking an additional midfielder to control the game's tempo, which could affect Gloukh's role. In a recent Conference League match against Shelbourne, Gloukh was substituted in the 58th minute with Ajax leading 3-0; the Irish team later narrowed the score to 3-1 ahead of the return leg.

Gloukh concluded his debut Ajax season with six goals and six assists in 29 league games, plus three goals in the Champions League, signaling his potential to lead Ajax to future successes.
