How to Make Perfect and Delicious Pita Bread on the Grill
Noam Zigdon shares a detailed recipe for making perfect and tasty pita bread on a grill. The ingredients include 1 kilogram of sifted flour, 1.5 tablespoons of yeast, 1 tablespoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 to 2.25 cups of water, and 0.25 cups of olive oil. The preparation begins by mixing one cup of water with yeast, sugar, and some flour, then letting it rest for about ten minutes.
After this initial step, the rest of the flour, salt, and one cup of water are added, with an optional additional quarter cup of water if needed, and kneaded until a uniform dough forms. Olive oil is then incorporated, and the dough is kneaded for another ten minutes. The dough is covered and left to rise for approximately 40 minutes.
The dough is divided into small balls, covered, and allowed to rise again for about 15 minutes. Each ball is then flattened into a pita shape using oiled hands and placed directly on a clean grill, which is recommended to be wiped with an onion dipped in oil beforehand. Once the pita develops a brown color on one side, it is flipped to cook the other side. The finished pita can be enjoyed with hummus, tahini, or other preferred toppings. The recipe concludes with a wish for success and appetite.
