Phone Call May Have Revealed Location of Killed Iranian Security Chief Ali Larijani

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding how Israel and the United States located Ali Larijani, Iran's Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, who was killed in a strike in Tehran during the recent 40-day war. Esmail Kothari, a member of Iran's Parliamentary National Security Committee, claimed that intelligence indicated a phone call involving Larijani's son, Morteza, was detected on the night of the attack, revealing Larijani's location. However, Iran's judiciary news agency Mizan stated that a legal investigation does not support Kothari's version of events. Larijani's family also denied the claim, asserting through state media that Morteza had not possessed a mobile phone for months before the war and remained without one until both he and his father were killed. The family emphasized that Larijani strictly ensured no one around him carried phones. Iran officially confirmed on March 17 that Larijani, a key figure in the country's security apparatus, was eliminated in a morning strike in Tehran.
