Tel Aviv Ticket Company Refunds Reservist After Initial Denial Citing 'No War Situation'
A reservist soldier currently serving inside Lebanon was initially denied a full refund for concert tickets by the Tel Aviv ticket company "Kupat Tel Aviv" after his military call-up prevented him from attending. The soldier's partner claimed the company refused to return their approximately 600 shekel payment for tickets to a Liran Danino concert scheduled for August 6, 2026, offering only a credit voucher instead. She described the customer service response as "opaque and outrageous," highlighting a representative's comment that "we are no longer in a war situation," despite her partner actively serving in Lebanon.
The couple had purchased the tickets before the reservist received his call-up order dated July 15, 2026, which came after the refund cancellation deadline of June 22, 2026. The company explained that the initial refund request was received only on July 22, after the cancellation window had closed. They also noted that the customer did not respond to their offer of a full-value credit voucher, which remained valid for two years.
Additionally, when the soldier's partner contacted the company the day before the concert, her details did not match the booking, preventing the company from processing changes due to privacy and security policies. The company clarified that the "no war situation" remark referred to the absence of Home Front Command restrictions on the concert's occurrence, not to the reservist's service.
Kupat Tel Aviv emphasized its ongoing support for soldiers and their families, regularly donating thousands of tickets annually. After reviewing the case further, the company decided to refund the full amount to the reservist, converting the credit voucher into a cash refund and promising to notify the customer directly. They wished the soldier a safe service and return home.
This incident highlights the challenges reservists face when balancing military duties with civilian commitments and the complexities of refund policies amid unforeseen call-ups.
