MLS Launches Investigation Into Alleged Antisemitic Abuse Against Israeli Player Dor Turgeman

Major League Soccer announced on the night of August 2-3, 2026, that it has opened an investigation into reports of antisemitic and discriminatory language directed at Israeli forward Dor Turgeman during a match between New England Revolution and Montreal Impact, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Turgeman was reportedly subjected to severe verbal abuse from the stands, which intensified after he scored the go-ahead goal in the 35th minute. New England Revolution immediately reported the incident to MLS and expressed full support for the investigation, emphasizing the league's commitment to addressing discrimination and holding offenders accountable.

Conversely, another fan group, 1642MTL, condemned any such behavior if it occurred, stressing respect within the community and stadium.

Canadian Minister of Identity and Heritage Mark Miller called the alleged conduct "completely shocking" and unacceptable but welcomed the club's swift response. The investigation is ongoing as MLS and involved parties seek to clarify the events and ensure accountability.
