Ayla Metzger Says the Government Chose Endless War Over Life-Saving Deals
Ayla Metzger, the daughter-in-law of Yoram Metzger, who was killed in Hamas captivity, spoke at an anti-government rally at Habima Square. In her remarks, she said the country was still living with unanswered questions nearly two years and nine months after the October 7 massacre, despite investigations by the IDF and by journalists.
Metzger said the families affected by the attack and by the government's conduct in the months that followed are demanding answers. She argued that extremists had always been across the border, but that no one imagined the IDF would fail to protect, or the government would fail to act, leaving dozens of civilians abandoned to die in captivity.
According to Metzger, the state chose “a forever war” over “life-saving agreements.” She ended with a pledge: “We will remove them and build a new, repaired Israel.”
