A protest was held at Tel Aviv’s Habima Square against the government and in support of establishing a state commission of inquiry. Many demonstrators came from Rabin Square.
Carmit Palty-Katzir, whose family was devastated on October 7, addressed the rally. Her father, Rami Katzir, was murdered that day, her mother Hanne Katzir was abducted, later released, and later died, and her brother Elad Katzir was taken alive and killed in captivity.
Palty-Katzir said the deepest rupture was not only what Hamas did, but also the realization that there was no responsible adult present. “In those hours, no one came,” she said. She also criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s public messaging about the hostages.
“In the parallel reality Netanyahu is trying to sell us, he keeps saying, ‘We brought everyone back,’ and boasting about it. Do not boast about their return, be ashamed of their abduction, it is not normal to be kidnapped,” she said.
