U.S. President Donald Trump reposted on his Truth Social account a screenshot of a message from Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on X, in which Sharif said: “We are closer to a peace agreement than ever before. The expectation is a final agreement within the next 24 hours.” The post came as reports intensified around U.S.-Iran negotiations.

At the same time, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar spoke by phone with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the two welcomed the U.S.-Iran talks, which it said were in their final stages, and added that “the electronic signing ceremony is scheduled to take place tomorrow.” It said they hoped the development would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.

Saudi broadcaster Al-Hadath quoted sources saying an Iranian delegation, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, would arrive in Pakistan tomorrow to oversee the technical talks related to the agreement. Separately, a senior U.S. official said Trump is expected to meet leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern states on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France on June 15 to 17.

The official said Trump will not meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in those talks, noting Netanyahu is subject to an international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which France must observe as a Rome Statute signatory. The report also said Trump and Netanyahu have been under strain this week, as Trump has sought to restrain Israel’s response to threats and attacks from Hezbollah and Iran. On Monday night, Netanyahu told ministers about a tense call with Trump, saying Trump asked, “Did they kill your people?” and he replied, “No, they did not kill. I do not accept the equation that only if they kill do we respond, if they attack inside Israel, I respond and attack.” Later that day, Trump posted that “Israel and Iran must stop the shooting immediately” and separately said he was “not happy” with Israel’s strike in Beirut, only speaking with Netanyahu after those posts.
