New Iranian Poll Shows Majority Support for Netanyahu and Strong Dislike of Putin

A recent poll conducted by the Dutch research institute GAMAAN reveals surprising public opinion trends in Iran following the January protests and recent conflicts involving Israel and the US. The survey found that 51% of Iranians hold a positive view of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a stark contrast to their views of other world leaders. Russian President Vladimir Putin received the lowest approval, with 73% of respondents expressing negative sentiments toward him.

The poll also highlights widespread dissatisfaction with Iran's ruling regime. Nearly half of those surveyed (47%) support a complete replacement of the current government, while only 9% identify with the principles of the Islamic Republic. This discontent extends to national symbols, as 64% prefer the historical Lion and Sun flag over the current one, and 62% oppose the official slogan "Death to Israel."

Regarding recent civil unrest, the poll estimates that about 14 million Iranians, roughly a quarter of the population, participated in the January protests. Furthermore, 80% believe the regime responded to the demonstrations with excessive cruelty. On security and economic issues, 59% oppose Iran's nuclear weapons development, and 60% welcomed the regime's weakening during the recent military confrontations.

Economic hardship remains the primary concern for most Iranians, with 76% citing inflation and high living costs as their main worries, followed by 60% fearing continued oppressive governance. Only 18% view renewed conflict as a major concern, underscoring the population's focus on domestic issues over external military engagements.
