Israel Extends Debt Collection Protections for Reservists Until February 2027

Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Levin approved an extension of temporary regulations protecting reservists serving in the "Sword of Iron" operation and their spouses from debt collection actions. Initially effective from August 28, 2025, to August 31, 2026, these protections are now extended until February 28, 2027. The regulations prevent enforcement measures such as asset seizures, vehicle confiscation, eviction, arrest warrants, and salary garnishments against eligible reservists and their spouses during their service period.

The protections exclude enforcement related to child support debts owed to private creditors, not including the National Insurance Institute. To qualify, debtors must notify the Enforcement and Collection Authority with proof of their reservist status. The protection period begins at the start of reserve service and lasts three months, with possible extensions of an additional three months if service continues. Debtors who faced enforcement actions before notifying their eligibility can request cancellation of these actions.

The Enforcement and Collection Authority also announced that these relief measures have been extended to the Fine Collection Center, ensuring broader application of the protections for reservists during their military duties.
