Man Armed With Hammer Attacks Child and Counselor at Jewish Summer Camp in Queens
A serious incident occurred today at a Jewish summer camp located in the Lev Laibov School complex in Queens, New York. A man armed with a hammer infiltrated the camp, violently pushing a child toward a nearby fence and attacking a counselor who tried to intervene before being subdued by camp staff. According to local reports, the suspect, described as a Black male, entered the camp carrying the hammer and immediately assaulted one of the children. Camp counselors responded swiftly, tackling the attacker to the ground. During the struggle, one counselor was bitten by the suspect.
New York Police Department officers arrived promptly and arrested the suspect without further incident. Emergency medical volunteers from Queens provided initial treatment to the injured child and counselor, who were then transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and monitoring. NYPD detectives remained at the scene to collect evidence and investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
