Riki Reef Sinai, the lead actress in Sharon Engelhardt's new film "Because You Are Ugly," recently spoke about her experiences during an interview on Kan News Radio. The film, a gritty coming-of-age drama, follows Abigail, a troubled soldier from a complex family background who gets a chance to attend an officer training course while her younger sister faces an unplanned pregnancy. Sinai, who also works as a kindergarten assistant in Ra'anana, revealed a deep connection with her character, describing Abigail as a difficult, somewhat violent teenager who gradually reveals a more sensitive side. Sinai won the Best Actress award at the Jerusalem Film Festival last year for this role.

Sinai shared that the character evolved during filming, becoming less angry and more nuanced due to her influence. She candidly stated, "People find it hard to see overweight women, that's a fact," highlighting ongoing societal challenges with body image.
